Where Graphic Design Started for me...
So after a lot of persuading from friends and family (mainly my husband) to put myself out there, I have finally taken the plunge and here it is. My work. My thoughts. My creativity. My love for design.
I’ll start by giving you a little insight into my creative past...
Graphic Design was one of the only subjects I was naturally good at in school, it came easy to me and very enjoyable. Although most of the work was done by hand, having to design ideas using a creative thought process was one of fun parts of each project. I then went on to college to study a BTEC in Graphic Design, allowing me to start using Macs and the design programmes. This only emphasised my love for design, which encouraged me to carry on with my studies of Graphic Design at University. Once graduating I took a role in a printers, this enabled me to understand the back end of design... the technical side to what we design on the Macs and how its transpired to print. Understanding how different weights and finishes of paper can impact on the final design. I then wanted to share my love for design with young designers, so did my PGCE (teaching qualification) and went on to teach A Level Graphic Design for 2 years. I realised my love was in Graphic Design itself and not teaching, so took a Graphic Design position, where I have been for 3 years now and love every day of it.
To me Graphic Design isn’t work, I enjoy every different project and how each day allows my skills to develop even further.
Well I don’t want to bore you too much, but theres a little look into how I got where I am today.
